The lesson of plastic soup

Did you know chewing gum needs 20 to 25 year to decay? Not information you think about on a daily base. My daughter mentioned it because she needed to give a presentation. I was glad to see children in 5th grade aren't just thinking about music, vloggers and gaming. First, she thought about having the presentation about the death sea, because it's funny you float on it. But after some google her interest shifted to the plastic soup. Turtles with a fused shield strangled in plastic, mountains of waste in the sea and across the tide line, that made an impact on her.

There was a lot to be told about the plastic soup problem, but fortunately also about the solutions. Thank about Pharrell Williams, well-known from his hit Happy, producing together with G-star clothing of yarn made of plastic bottles fished from the ocean. The class also was enthusiast about the project Ocean Cleanup by Boyan Slat. This 23-year old Dutch man invented a cleaning installation to remove the plastic from the sea. During the preparations for her presentation, my daughter ask me a lot of questions. It gives a good feeling to be able to tell her LEOXX is also consciously working towards the solutions.

To keep our ecological footprint as small as possible, the floor collection is CO₂ neutral, recyclable or made of recycled materials.
