The hotel interior as experience

Hotel guests booking an overnight stay, expect more than a nice room; they expect a complete experience. Whether they come back for that experience for a big part depends on the interior. A completely different interior compared to what the people have at home, adds to a positive experience of their stay. From all impressions people get, colour is being registered first. Since people in their homes often are careful with the use of colour, this provides a big opportunity for hoteliers.

Colour tickles the senses

A positive mood logically influences the judgement of the stay. From many colour is known which emotions they provoke and the task lies to pick the right colours:

  • Blue shades resemble trustworthiness and loyalty and have a calming effect. This makes blue a perfect colour for hotel rooms.
  • Red has the opposite effect of blue. It resembles passion and love, but also anger and danger. The colour can provoke intense emotions and is often seen as less suitable for bed and bath rooms.
  • Green and brown are associated with nature, making them work stress reducing. Brown gives a feeling of security and if often used in leather and wood.
  • Purple and bordeaux are mostly associated with luxury. This makes them very suitable for hotel interiors.
