Beluga Loves You

The interior of the gourmet restaurant Beluga Loves You in Maastricht, run by top chef Servais Tielman, got a complete makeover. In the new concept customers are taken on a culinary and visual journey across themes like forest, water and earth and the experience is key. Servais Tielman: “We thought it to be important for the new Beluga Loves You to match who we are on the plate already.”

Local nature as source of inspiration

The new interior concept was created together with the interior designer Jeroen Smeele of SMEELE Design, who developed the three themes in detail into three spaces with a unique experience for everyone. The inspiration for these themes comes directly from the surroundings of Beluga Loves You: the caves of marl in Limburg, the river Meuse and the forest around Maastricht. This matches seamlessly with Tielmans love for cooking with local products from the region Maastricht and its connectedness as chef with nature.

UNIquE spaces with their own athmosphère

The new Beluga Loves You is created around three unique spaces with each their own atmosphere and theme: Bosco, Aqua and Terra. The first space - Bosco – breathes everything involved with the forest. Here the customers receive the aperitif and amuses. There is a serene natural atmosphere with transparency as guideline. The second space - Aqua – has water as theme; here you feel like in an underwater world. Aqua is an open space with lots of light and tones of blue. Here the guests spend most of their culinary journey. The third space – Terra -  involves around everything living underground. The space itself is literally located underneath street level, Here guests receive their dessert and end their culinary journey. Terra emits a warm living room feeling with earthly colors and intimate seats in Scandinavic design.

PASSENDE VLOERAFWERKING

For the design of the spaces Bosco and Aqua, SMEELE Design chose the LEOXX Highland carpet tile. Jeroen: “This floor finishing with high-low structure has a beautiful depth effect and together with the irregular pattern it gives the desired effect to the interior. We chose for the two rooms to apply a different, proper color for both. The colors in the Highland series are excellent for this. Besides the Highland we had round carpets of the Soft Emotion made for the design of the space Terra, which we had finished with bevelled edges. These carpets have been executed in two beautiful soft colors, matching the intimate atmosphere of the space. On the carpets small seating areas are placed, where customers take place to eat their dessert.”
