ZODIAC the musical

Awareness, achieving things together and respect for the planet form the message of ZODIAC the musical. It's a story that connects, amazes and poses questions. The iconic location at the Koepel prison in Breda, combined with an impressive technical set-up adds and additional dimension to this visual spectacle. The central stage is covered with custom-made printing carpet executed with a concrete-look design, functioning as a solid base for the energetic dancing and acting of the musical actors.

The story of ZODIAC

The story of ZODIAC the musical, directed by William Spaaij, takes place in the year 2031. Our planet is in bad shape. The universe has given up on humanity and the zodiac calls Sagittarius Bo to second to the Earth. His task? Reclaim the four elements fire, earth, air and water from humanity. Adventurous as he is, Bo doesn’t hesitate for a moment. Upon arrival he quickly sees the world through different eyes. He falls in one amazement after the other and is faced with a difficult decision. What do you do when the world is on fire? What challenges do you take on with your new allies, which ones do you avoid? Can Bo still manage to save the planet and the people which he has come to love?

PRINTing carpet in the leading role

The play partly takes place above the audience, the zodiac is located in the universe after all. Because of the round high hall in the dome you are surrounded from all sides by and drawn into the story. Innovative light and sound effects, the use of dozens of drones and the projections on the vaults and the round cell complex of the Koepel together create a magical show. At the central stage, equipped with a counter moving double turntable, sparkles a concrete look printing carpet. The desired look for this carpet was a design resembling an as natural as possible earth’s surface, on which the cast dance quite comfortably. The lighting and beautiful projections don’t only light up the vaults of the Koepel in a spectacular way, but also cause the carpet to, as it were, constantly change color.
