Holiday Inn Voorburg

Across the station of Voorburg arose in the mid-nineties a waffle shaped building with 125 hotel rooms. After 25 years it was time for a thorough renovation and modernization. HEYLIGERS architects took care of the hotel and created a transparent and contemporary design in accordance with the quality and design standards of Holiday Inn.

INVITING AND CONTEMPORARY LOBBY

In particular the ground floor went through a true transformation. The entrance hall changed from a dark and introverted space to a transparent, inviting, and contemporary lobby. By ‘mirroring’ the reception in relation to the centrally located elevators and by providing the façade with floor-high fronts, the reception of hotel guests is much more natural and friendlier. The natural light, which now penetrates much better into the building, and the homelike furnishing contribute to an inviting atmosphere. In the hotel lobby we find a combination of floors, among which a LVT floor from Amtico installed in a contemporary herringbone pattern. With its warm and slightly neutral wood look it blends beautifully with the other (wooden) elements in the interior, like the vertically placed wooden paneling.

STYLISH BASE CARPET

For the upper floors with the 125 hotel rooms HEYLIGERS architects designed a stylish base carpet which has been applied in all halls and rooms of the hotel. The project suitable frisé quality is executed in colors which are part of the total color scheme. The graphical grid pattern returns in a loose variety in the lobby. That way the connectivity with the rest of the hotel remains intact and a uniform look has been created.
