QO Amsterdam

The QO in Amsterdam is not the capital's first four-star-hotel, but it is one of the first LEED Platinum certified hotels of Europe. The QO strives to sustainability in everything they do, from saving energy, to business operations and quality of residence for their guests.

Close to the Amstel station, in a new neighbourhood along the river, alsmost threehundred hotel rooms have been built for the cosmopolitan hotel guest of the 21st century. This guest asks for luxurary, but also has high demands regarding sustainability. QO achieves these demands by closing as much circles as possible, concerning energy, water wastage and used materials. As little residual flows as possible should remain. This means for instance that part of the power is produced from biomass from the hotel. Warmth from the extracted air by the ventilation system is also being reused. Moreover, the facade interacts with the outside climate to prevent heat loss or overheating. The architectural shell is responsable for most the savings on the hotel's energy use.

The building is built around a core of facilities, around which bright hotel rooms are found. All rooms are equiped with windows, from the lower to the top floor, guaranteeing a fivestar view over the city.
