Het Spanjaard

In Borne stands the monumental premise 'Het Spanjaard'. In this building originating from 1864 several companies involved in construction and living are located nowadays. One of these companies is Building Design Architectuur. They have developed a print carpet with a concrete look especially for this premise, realized by our custom printing label Prints van Oranje. In the design of this carpet an old city map of Borne is integrated. A subtle reference to the history and monumental status of the premise.

Concrete LOOK and HISTORy IN one PRINT

The name ‘Het Spanjaard’ derives from Salomon Spanjaard. It was Salomon Spanjaard who made Borne big in the field of textile during the 19^th century. He did this by growing his textile weaver into a big textile manufacturer. The entrepreneurial spirit of Spanjaard is still present in the present. It’s the only remainder of of the factory complex where Spanjaard was housed in the past. Building Design Architectuur wants to keep the history of both the premise as Borne alive. The print carpet with the old city map has therefore received a prominent place. Immediately behind the entrance and from every floor the print carpet can be seen. The concrete look of the carpet match well with the industrial style of the premise. Old and new interchange each other fluently and form an atmospheric both also professional and functional unity. In the premise can be found, besides the print of the old city map, various other elements referring to the history of the textile industry.

Sustainable PRINT carpet

Because the carpet is placed in a prominent spot, a lot of people walk on top of it. This has been taken into account in the execution of the carpet by choosing a wear resistant, easy in maintenance and mixed project quality. That way the unique print carpet can last for years and does it been gifted, just like the monumental premise, a sustainable life.
