OPENness by rooms filled with colour

Architectenbureau MVRDV has moved to 'Het Industriegebouw' (The Industry Building) in the heart of Rotterdam. This Monumental building of architect Hugh Maaskant is reassigned for housing creative office space, refurnished by MVRDV itself. The building was divided into big open spaces by using glass walls, where people can passionately work. They also created smaller colourful units for meetings and getting inspiration. These units stand out by the use of pure colours that creates an exciting play of coloured fields, visible due to the glass walls. For every room everything really is in the same colour, from floor to ceiling. The bright RAL colours for the carpets are all demonstrated in the extensive Color Books collection of LEOXX. For the casted floors a few colours have been specially created for this project by the use of pigments.

INDUSTRIal Handcasted floor

Underneath the five arrows of the building, 150 work spots and colourful conference rooms have been created. The smaller rooms are upholstered with comfortable, soft carpet. Outside of the rooms they wanted to highlight the industrial character of the building from the fifties. There they chose the casted floor Raw, a floor not being casted but spatuled, creating a subtle flamed pattern in light grey shades. Over 1800 m2 casted floor has been applied by hand in only a few weeks. A lot of work with a magnificent result. The floor has an unseen powerful character and is in beautiful contrast with the tightly colored casted floors of Smooth as well as with the carpets from the LEOXX ColorBooks collection.
